Gretsch made its “Banner Blue” banjos between 1947-49. This one dates to 1947 (serial 243). Previous owner had the pegs replaced about a year ago with 5-star pegs, as well as a setup done. Though there is significant finish wear on the back of the neck, we would still put this banjo in very good condition for its age. Plays very nicely.
No case included, but we offer a 10% discount on cases & gig bags when purchased with an instrument. Shipping is $75 within the continental US.
Description from the 1948 Gretsch catalog:
“Extension resonator model in a glossy hand-rubbed, shaded finish. 5-ply mahogany resonator, ivory celluloid bound. 3-piece warp-proof maple neck. Ebonized fingerboard with 23″ professional scale and round position dots. White pearl headpiece. Polished nickel-plate die-cast resonator flange and counter hoop. Selected hard white calf head for snap and brilliance of tone. Quality patent pegs. Heavily nickel-plated tailpiece. It is a truly ‘banner buy’ at this moderate price.”
