J.W. Gallagher & Sons G-70 dreadnought guitar, made in 1974. Previous owner acquired it in the 1980s. During his time with it, he replaced the original tuners with Schallers (old screw holes are visible), and had a crack in the lower bout repaired.
The G-70 is a classic herringbone rosewood guitar, with spruce top, ebony fretboard, herringbone trim & rosette and ivoroid-bound body, fretboard & headstock. Artists who play this model include Dan Tyminski, Chris Jones, Claire Lynch, and J.P. Cormier.
When this guitar came to us, it had not been played for several years. We had our luthier complete the following to get it back to very good playing condition:
– repair bridge crack
– repair fretboard cracks
– fret leveling
– setup
The action remains on the low side due to the amount of room left in the saddle. With its current setup, we would recommend it more for fingerstyle playing than heavy strumming.
There is a fair amount of cosmetic wear commensurate with age, as shown in the photos.
Hard case is included. Fully insured UPS Ground shipping is $100 within the continental US.
