This Firth Hall & Pond low D boxwood flute comes to us from a large collection of a local player/collector who is downsizing. We estimate it was made ca. 1890. It has bone rings; the lowest one on the foot joint is missing. One key. All joints are stamped “FIRTH HALL & POND / N*YORK .”
Good condition overall; no cracks and joints are solid. The low D plays to about A=437 Hz. We would describe the general intonation as not 100% perfect, but “acceptable.” No case.
